4 Stars Easy to use, so far no cons
I received this yogurt maker as a Christmas gift and just finished my first batch (eating it that is :). My only other experience with yogurt makers has been w/ the kind found in Belgium (glass jars, don’t have to boil milk, just mix, pour and incubate). I plan to update the review after a few more batches, but for now I wanted to point a few positive things I noted when making it.

1. You do not need to heat the milk — I read the instructions in the mini-recipe booklet that Eurocuisine included and found that instead of heating I can just let the milk I use (42oz organic whole milk) just warm to room temperature and its sufficient.

2. You have many options to use as a starter culture — I chose to use Nancy’s plain yogurt with “billions of live cultures” from Safeway. — used one jar full (ie: 6ozs)

3. Added a spoonful of plain white sugar per jar (so 7) into the mix. — this amount was just an experiment, but turned out to be great.

4. Stir and pour into each jar.

5. Incubate for 8 hours, then cover w/ lids and place in fridge for a minimum of 3hours.

A few things, 36 oz of milk would have been more appropriate (I had extra mixture) and I highly advise letting the yogurt cool in the fridge for the suggested 3 hours as it firms up the yogurt.

The resulting yogurt was pretty delicious. Pretty smooth, a bit creamy/sweet with just that slight tart taste of plain yogurt. The amount of sugar was just about perfect. There was a bit of lumpiness to the yogurt, which I have attributed to insufficient mixing of the yogurt starter with the milk on my part.

Overall the process was quick and simple to make the yogurt. I think it took me maybe 10 minutes to measure, mix, pour and start the machine.

The maker is easy to clean, as are the jars and lids - wipe down the maker, rinse the lid off and toss the jars/lids into the dishwasher.

I’m about to start my next batch using more or less the same method, however I will use my own yogurt as a starter, and I’m going to see about adding some vanilla to the mix. After a few more experimental batches I’ll let you know how things go!

1 Stars Can not heat enough in winter
I live in Phoenix and I purchased this machine in July. You know Phoenix is so hot in summer. So when I made my yogurt in summer months and when i got perfect results, I thought it was the machine. Then winter came. And Phoenix winter is not that cold. But of course my apartment was colder than summer months. Then my results got poorer. I thought machine was supposed to keep the yogurt at the same heat all the time to prevent it from outside effects.

Now this machine only ends up with yogurt soup, and recently after i washed the machine, it stopped working. But I had to wash it since milk spills on the base all the time.

5 Stars Makes perfect yogurt
This yogurt maker works perfectly. The jars are so convenient to just pop on the lids when the yogurt is ready and stick them in the fridge. Then I grab and go to have breakfast at my desk. I bought extra jars so that I can have more yogurt made as my boyfriend and I both eat it every day. I use the YoGourmet yogurt starter and it works great. I like my yogurt pretty firm and tangy (like Greek yogurt) so I set it for 12 hours. I make up a batch when I get home from work (takes 10 minutes at most) and then set it and leave until morning. When I get up in the morning I stick the jars in the fridge.

I saw one reviewer say they don’t get good yogurt in Winter. She or He must be doing something wrong because I live in the mountains of Colorado and keep my house pretty cool (around 60 degrees) and have NO trouble. I highly recommend this yogurt maker, if for no other reason than the jars are so convenient and reusable (so green!)

5 Stars Exactly what I wanted!
I researched all over the Internet for yogurt makers before deciding to purchase this one. For a long time I’ve been making my own yogurt, but this machine speeds it up greatly. I make a batch before I go to bed, and can set the timer for exactly how long I want the yogurt to incubate. The individual containers, timer, and brand reputation were my major selling points, and it was exactly as advertised. I love not being a slave to the supermarket or to my stove now!

5 Stars 2 machines
Accidentally ordered two of the machine sets

and like it so much we are keeping both.

Made two batches so far with just store

whole milk and starter. Came out very

tangy In 7 hours but is superb with guava jelly.

Like an earlier post mentioned you have

to get the yogurt out as soon as the light

goes out or it will continue to cook.

Like the separate little jars so the rest of

the batch stays nice and clean if you just

want to eat a spoonful or two from one jar.

Noticed VitaMix has some really great

yogurt smoothie recipes we will be sure

to try out.

Got the yogurt cheese maker also and

put only one jar in it. It worked really

fast and drained below the level of the

cheese - so the cheese did not sit in the

whey. Soft cream cheese spreadable

but yogurt taste. Great with guava jelly.
