Trudeau Graviti Battery-Operated Pepper Mill, Matte Silver

No button, no effort and no mess! This Trudeau Graviti Mill is one of the coolest and most convenient gadgets for the kitchen! It makes a great cook’s tool as well as the perfect gift for friends or family. Simply fill the mill with fresh pepper and just flip it to use! It comes filled already with fresh gourmet peppercorns and is made with a high-impact ceramic grinder that is as hard as hardened steel! It can also be used with sea salt crystals so don’t limit yourself to only using peppercorns. Runs on six AAA batteries, which are not included. Under normal use, the batteries should last more than year. Comes with a 1-year warranty. As its name implies, the Graviti battery-operated pepper mill from Trudeau leans heavily on the laws of physics for its function and appeal. A sleek and amusing gadget that also makes great ground pepper, the piece turns on automatically when flipped upside down. This saves grinding effort, of course, but it is also useful for the stirring cook who only has one free hand to add spice, not to mention that it serves as a fun conversation starter. To ensure that the Graviti is not mere gimmickry, Trudeau equips it with a durable and efficient ceramic grinder, and a finely tunable knob for adjusting coarseness. The grinder works well for both pepper and sea salt and arrives filled with gourmet peppercorns. It washes up by hand, runs on 6 AAA batteries, and stands 7-3/4 inches high. Trudeau makes the mill in several attractive colors and backs it with a five-year warranty. –Emily Bedard

5 Stars Love this grinder
I have two - a silver one for white pepper and a black one for black pepper. Use one of them nearly every day. Easy to use and easier to grind pepper than by hand. They are a little loud, though.

1 Stars Don’t waste your money!
I got this as a Christmas gift, and was very excited about it. That is, until, I took the time to get 6 AAA batteries (!!!) and it wouldn’t work at all. It started to grind, but then would clog and we never did get it to work- even after emptying and refilling it completely. Don’t waste your money.

5 Stars These make wonderful gifts!
I originally purchased two of these for salt and pepper and then bought another five sets for Christmas gifts. Everyone loved them. They become a topic of conversation at every dinner party. The only complaint I have is you can’t order them with salt in them. You have to order two with pepper and then change the one to salt.

2 Stars Fatal Flaw
This is a great idea and clever design, but unfortunately the longevity of the whole thing depends on tiny little plastic clips to ensure the cover is held on tightly. The plastic cap on the bottom must be a tight fit in order to push the motor far enough into the unit to engage the metal axle that turns the grinder. After about three peppercorn refills and a battery replacement (lots of them!)– about three months of occasional use — the cap no longer fits snug enough to engage the motor. The same thing happened to another family member’s grinder. I can sometimes make it engage if I press down hard on the cap while inverting the grinder, but that’s simply an unacceptable solution.

1 Stars Piece of junk
This pepper mill is a nothing but a piece of junk. I ordered two of them. The motor on the first one died within 10 seconds of putting the batteries in. On the second one, the motor is “working”, but it is not turning the metal rod, so all you get is the motor noise and no grinds. The motor has all plastic, fine teeth gears - even if you get lucky and get it to grind a teaspoon before it dies, how long do you think that’s going to last? Don’t throw your money away on this bottom of the barrel “made in china” junk.
